The Nam Hom Coconut
WHAT MAKES THEM SO SPECIAL?
Back to the heart of our story: the coconut. Our founders searched the world (ok, most of it) for the very best coconut water. They found it in Thailand, inside a small coconut called the Nam Hom, a name that aptly means "fragrant ones."
Every Nam Hom farm we work with is organic certified. That’s a big deal because it’s the only way to verify that our coconuts are grown without the use of persistent pesticides, synthetic fertilizers or sewage sludge. It also means our coconuts are not irradiated or produced
with GMOs.
FARMS
We work with about 300 farms.
Coconuts Per Week
The farms we work with can produce up to 300k coconuts PER WEEK during the high season.
Since Founding
We've utilized hundreds of millions of coconuts to produce all of those delicious coconut products you all see on shelves.
WHAT ABOUT ALL THAT WASTE?
This brings us to our second biggest source of green house gas emissions: coconut waste.
We punch and drain all coconuts, which leaves us with coconut meat and the husk.
Instead of tossing the coconut meat (it’s delicious!), we Upcyled it into our yogurt and smoothie products! In fact, use of coconut meat with growing demand in our coconut water continues to inform our innovation pipeline. Less coconut waste + delicious new products = HECK YEAH for us & the environment.
The husks are a bigger challenge. We turn a small fraction into compost, but have big plans to transform it into biochar to fuel our factories. You read that right. A coconut product factory… powered by… coconuts. Nuts? Maybe. Possible? We think so.
