We’ve got a bustling HQ in Oakland, California plus 133 team members (and counting) living and working in Thailand, where the bulk of our operation take place. Staying close to the ground keeps us invested in every step of the process and every community along the way.

We annually study the sources of our greenhouse gas emissions and have found that our biggest emitters are coconut farming and coconut waste. Learning about our emissions has informed our sustainability roadmap.

Our focus remains to ensure we’re doing right by our people in Oakland, Bangkok, and bring development to our coconut communities.
Regenerative organic agriculture is focused on restoring soil health and biodiversity while capturing atmospheric carbon, defending farms against climate change and improving yields… or, in short… bringing nature back to agriculture.

In 2023, Harmless Harvest coconuts were Regenerative Organic Certified at the bronze level.
A huge step towards achieving our climate goals!
Stingless bees can increase coconut flower pollination for better coconut yields (plus delicious honey!).
Planting other native crops, like fruit trees, can increase farm biodiversity and farmer income.
Releasing fish in farm canals controls the growth of duckweed, which supports clean and clear canal flow.
Planting cover crops prevents soil erosion and promotes living roots in the soil.
Raising earthworms creates vermicompost, a natural & nutrient rich fertilizer, that supports soil health.
Creating compost from coconut trees can support farm waste management and regenerate soil nutrients.
Khun Chamroen and his wife met at the farm they manage over 30 years ago, and continue to bring that love & care into their Nam Hom coconuts.
Khun Thianchai and his son have implemented several regenerative practices, including vermicompost and leaning into drying farm waste instead of letting it decompose in canals.
Khun Bandit and his family are leading the charge on implementing Nam Hom coconut regenerative organic practices, including pollinators, coconut husk compost, and intercropping.
Why are they so special? Back to the heart of our story: the coconut. Our founders searched the world (ok, most of it) for the very best coconut water. They found it in Thailand, inside a small coconut called the Nam Hom, a name that aptly means "fragrant ones."

Let’s talk about the elephant in the room… we use plastic packaging. We realize plastic isn’t ideal (recycle rates are far lower in the US than we’d like to see), which is why we created a supply chain for recycled plastic (rPET) in Thailand in 2021. All of our beverage bottles are now made with rPET. We are actively working towards transitioning our sleeves and caps into rPET. Additionally, we continue to explore non-plastic options for our various products.
Whats next??
We have two industry certifications at our manufacturing facility in Samut Sakhon, Thailand. The Green Industry Certification, which means we have shown strong environmental commitments and have taken solid action to reduce environmental impact from our processing facility, and the ISO14001 CERTIFICATION which ensures we will make continuous improvement in our sustainability initiatives.
